Interested in getting off the grid? Join us for a discussion on how to unplug in an urban zone!

This is not your usual dinner party. It's a chance to hook up with your local power-down community and help develop a plan of action for this area. We will watch a film on peak oil and examine how other communities were able to survive when forced to unplug.

For directions (Delray Beach area), please RSVP to Jayne King (561.637.8896).

The Palm Beach County Green Party and NORML will host a P.O.T. Party (People On Track) on Saturday, February 23. The evening will feature the film, Grass, with guest speakers from NORML (National Organization for the Repeal of Marijuana Laws) and the Co-Chair of the Green Party of the United States, Echo Steiner.

Grass is a 1999 Canadian documentary film directed by Ron Mann, premiered in Toronto Film Festival, about the history of the United States government's war on marijuana in the 20th century. The film places much of the blame for marijuana criminalization on Harry Anslinger (the first American drug czar) who promoted false information about marijuana to the American public as a means towards abolition.

The film follows the history of federal policies and social attitudes towards marijuana, beginning at the turn of the twentieth century. The history presented is broken up into parts, approximately the length of a decade. Each decade is introduced by paraphrasing the official attitude towards marijuana at the time (e.g. "Marijuana will make you insane" or "Marijuana will make you addicted to heroin"), and closed by providing a figure for the amount of money spent during that period on the "war on marijuana."

Please bring chairs if possible and let's support The Grateful Garden, a food co-op and natural foods store.

The first Meetup of the year will be at Howley's Restaurant. We would like to discuss running local Green candidates, environmental issues (the really inconvenient ones), immigration rights, or anything else on your mind.

Please support the restaurant and enjoy the food and drink.

If you would like to receive our weekly Green Eblast to be notified of various Green-sponsored or Green-supported events, go to www.pbcgreenparty.org and sign up for email announcements.

We look forward to meeting and hearing from each of you.
