Hello everyone,
I hope everyone has had happy holidays. Progress on forming the Youth Caucus is going well. I have 15 young people who have expressedinterest, including 3 who may be willing to serve on the Steering Committee. I've been receiving names from others on this list who are looking for volunteers as well. Now is the key time to get young people involved! Many of our potential Youth Caucus members are students who are home on break - this is the time when they are starting to get tired of hanging out with their parents and are spending more time out with their friends and on their computers, waiting for e-mails to come. Let's make sure they get an invitation to join the Youth Caucus! I've included a sample message that you can send to your state and local contact lists, Campus Green listserves, Facebook groups, Myspacefriends, and everyone in your address book. Feel free to send it in my name or your own. Good luck finding recruits and happy new year. Brian Dear Green Party Youth Caucus supporter, I'm e-mailing because you have previously expressed interest in joining the Youth Caucus of the Green Party of the United States. The caucus will represent Greens under the age of 30 in the national decision-making of the Green Party of the United States. Currently we are re-organizing a number of Greens to officially establish the caucus. As long as you are under the age of 30 and registered as a member of your state's Green Party or affiliate, you are eligible. If you would like to join, please reply to this message with a few pieces of information: Name: Mailing Address: Phone Number: Date of Birth: E-mail address, if you use another more frequently: We are also looking for people to provide a leadership role for the Youth Caucus by volunteering to serve on the caucus' Steering Committee or recruiting members from other groups you belong to, such as your state Green Party or campus Green organization. Please also let me know if you are interested in doing any of these things. Thank you for your time. If you decide to join the Youth Caucus, we will contact you soon about joining an e-mail list and contributing your ideas to Green Party Youth Caucus. Thanks, Brian Bittner P.S. Feel free to forward this e-mail to anyone who may be interested in joining, including listserves.
